How to Choose the Right Flue Pipe Diameter for Pellet Stoves?

Choosing the right flue pipe diameter is essential for the efficiency of your heating system. To ensure the proper operation of your heating appliance, whether it is a stove, boiler, or fireplace, it is important to select a flue pipe that will not restrict the flow capacity of exhaust gases.

The diameter of the flue pipe should not be smaller than the diameter of the boiler outlet. If the diameters of the flue connection on the boiler and the chimney are different, the connection can be made using a reducer. For example, if the boiler outlet diameter is Ø80, the flue pipe diameter should be Ø80 or larger. In this case, the chimney diameter should not be smaller than Ø120. If the chimney diameter is larger than the flue pipe diameter, as in the example above, the connection before entering the chimney should be made with a reducer, creating a transition from Ø80 to Ø120.
